Review of the photo expedition to the Aral Sea

In September 2024, I was fortunate to go on a photo expedition through the fascinating region of the Aral Sea. I visited places such as Tastubek, Akespe, and Akbasty — villages with an incredible atmosphere and people whose way of life is truly inspiring. I would like to express my deep gratitude to our guide, Yedige — a true professional, a knowledgeable and attentive guide, and simply a wonderful person. Thanks to his help and in-depth knowledge of the area, I was able to capture rare and authentic moments of everyday life around the Aral Sea, visit remote locations, and gain a deeper understanding of the local culture. I was particularly impressed by Yedige’s individual approach — any challenge that came up during the shoot was quickly and efficiently resolved. Because of this, I was not only able to create a rich photo archive, but also experience the region’s traditions, cuisine, and way of life. The trip was so exciting and inspiring that I returned in January 2025 for a second round of shooting — this time in winter. The Aral Sea in winter is completely different: severe, captivating, and magical in its own way. It's a special season that reveals the region from a new perspective. Who knows — maybe it wasn’t my last expedition to this unique land. 🙂 Sincerely, Andrii K. Photographer / Traveler
